Manami visualizes the circulation of blood, heat and the fluid nature of human emotional experiences through painting. She uses decalcomania, a transfer technique of medium. Though the result resembles flesh and blood, the shapes born by accident are beyond our preconceived ideas. The unpredictable method of painting in itself is a direct reflection of diverse human physicality and how we seek meaning out of it, she says.
She also mentions the sacred beauty of female bodies. Their bodies, which are capable of bringing into a new life, are noble and graceful. Manami expresses her awes in the pelvis and vagina, which can transform into different shapes in order to nurture other lives.
