Mayumi Kimura is a graduate from Musashino Art University for printmaking and has been using the silk screen printing method, which was invented in the 20th century, for the sake of mass production. Her application of the technique is atypical in a way that she doesn’t use it for reduplication. She recycles the same prints but makes a slight change from one work to another, intending to evoke the differences of individual genes and contingency of life among the viewers.
