Mizuho Fukumuro explores the themes connecting nature and her own physicality and emotions. She makes abstract paintings that draw a parallel with natural scenes.
When she faces a canvas, she imagines the unseen astronomical layers of time and lives that existed before us, she says. The vortex of groundwater, the heat circulates inside of a majestic rock, the elaboration of the skeletal system of living organisms remind her of the untold nature’s work. She seeks something in common between her and nature.
Her process is a way to seek understanding in the relevance of the distant past within herself.
