Yuu Miyauchi is an up-and-coming artist in Tokyo, who recently finished her art education yet has been making her work public for various shows and awards.
When viewers see Miyauchi’s work, they would assume it’s an abstract painting, but they soon find the flat surface of repeated patterns printed on the canvas. That surprise has been capturing people’s artistic curiosity.
Miyauchi explains how her method of silkscreen printing is rather similar to painting, in a way that is still intuitive as she uses just 3 prints and coordinates the positionings/layerings as she goes on. She keeps experimenting with her expressions, enjoying the objective and design-oriented aspect of her works.
